Rock am Turm: Der Film
VHS-Video zum Kult-Event jetzt bei neue
medien werkstatt
Lank-Latum, den 14. Juli 2003 (nmw). Die Meerbuscher WebTV-Agentur neue medien
werkstatt vertreibt ab sofort die VHS-Videokassette "Rock am Turm III
". Der Film zeigt Highlights der Auftritte aller Rockbands sowie
zahlreiche Interviews, u.a. mit Initiator Wolfgang "Wölli" Rohde,
Ex-Schlagzeuger der "Toten Hosen".
Pünktlich zur vierten Auflage des Kult-Festivals "Rock am Turm" in
Meerbusch ist die Filmversion von "Rock am Turm III" als
VHS-Videokassette erhältlich. "Die Auftritte der Newcomer-Bands sind
absolut sehenswert, ebenso die Punk-Legenden der englischen Band ,The Crybabys'
und natürlich das Spitzen-Publikum", erklärt Monika Zehmisch,
Geschäftsführerin der neue medien werkstatt. "Außerdem ist es wirklich
spannend, was einem die Musiker hinter der Bühne alles verraten!" Die neue
medien werkstatt betreibt u.a. den WebTV-Channel nmw-tv.

Vor einigen Tagen haben ARCH ENEMY zwei erfolgreiche Shows mit Iron Maiden im
Osloer Spektrum gespielt, die laut Band absolut fantastisch verlaufen sind.

"Hello everybody, we are in Oslo, Norway now with Arch Enemy! Hey...we supported
IRON MAIDEN last night!!! An awesome feeling to being the direct support to the
greatest heavy metal band of all time! (can't argue with that fact, right?) Our
show went really well, no technical glitches or any stupid shit like that and
the response was greater than what we could have hoped for! We did 45 minutes
of material from "Wages Of Sin", "Burning Bridges" and
"Black Earth" and also a new song from the "Anthems.."
album called "We Will Rise". We had a goood time on stage and it was
nice to look out at 15.000 Norwegian metal heads and expose them to ARCH
ENEMY!!! And the best part is that we are doing it again tonight!!! Yeah...life

THE GATHERING - nehmen ein "Best Of" Semi-Akustik Album
auf
Die atmosphärischen Rocker THE GATHERING werden am 21.
und 22. August 2003 während zwei ganz spezieller Live Shows im LUX Theatre in
Nijmegen semi-akustische Versionen von Songs aus allen Schaffensperioden der
Band für ein Best Of-Album aufnehmen. Ausgewählte Stücke von sechs Alben der
Band, d.h. beginnend beim Debütalbum "Always", über das Erfolgswerk
"Mandylion" bis hin zu "if_then_else" werden in ein
komplett neues Soundgewand gekleidet. Das bisher unbetitelte Werk wird
wahrscheinlich noch vor Jahresende auf Century Media Records veröffentlicht.

MOONSPELL - arbeiten mit portugiesischem Autor José Luis
Peixoto für "The Antidote" zusammen
José Luis Peixoto, einer der vielversprechendsten
jungen, europäischen Autoren und der wichtigste Schreiber der neuen Generation
in Portugal, hat mit MOONSPELL für ihr kommendes Album "The Antidote"
(produziert von Hiili Hiilesmaa in den Finnvox Studios, Helsinki; VÖ 29.
September) zusammengearbeitet . Nachdem er zwei Romane veröffentlicht hat, den
2000er "Not Even A Gaze" (Gewinner des Saramago Preis, dem
renommiertesten Preis für portugiesische Literatur) und den 2002er "A
House In Darkness" sowie zwei Gedichtsbände und eine fiktionale Novelle,
arbeitet er nun mit MOONSPELL für das bahnbrechende Projekt zusammen. Das
Resultat ist ein Roman mit Kurzgeschichten, der den Titel "The
Antidote" trägt und der von der Musik, den Texten sowie dem Geist der zehn
Songs von MOONSPELLs Album "The Antidote" beeinflusst wurde. In
Portugal wird der Roman vom Verlag Temas & Debates veröffentlicht, ferner
wird es eine streng limitierte Auflage in Form eines Digibooks geben, das
sowohl das Buch in seiner Originalsprache Portugiesisch, als auch MOONSPELLs
Album als CD beinhaltet. Diese streng limitierte Auflage von "The Antidote"
ist ausschließlich in Portugal erhältlich. Die Englische Übersetzung
(übertragen von Richard Zenith) von Peixotos Werk wird weltweit als
Mulitmedia-Feature auf "The Antidote" erscheinen.

Auf dem With Full Force Festival haben MOONSPELL ein beeindruckendes Set
gespielt. Die nächtliche Uhrzeit von 00:30 bot den Portugiesen das passende
Ambiente für ihren gleichwohl atmosphärischen, wie knackigen Auftritt, der mit
vier brandneuen Songs ("In And Above Men", "From Lowering
Skies", "A Walk On The Darkside" und "The Southern Deathstyle")
sowie Hits wie "Opium", "Wolfshade", "Angelizer"
oder "Nocturna" die Zuschauer in Atem hielt. Allerdings gab es an dem
Abend nicht nur das Debüt der neuen Stücke, sondern auch Session-Bassist Aires Pereira
zum ersten Man lifehaftig auf deutschem Boden. "Moonspell has found a
session member to take good care of the bass duties on the forthcoming live
shows. His name his Aires Pereira and he has gathered the professional and
spiritual conditions to walk on stage with us", erklärt die Band.
Die Single "Everything Invaded"
(mit einem Edit des Titelsongs, dem Albumtrack "Crystal Gazing" und
dem exklusiven "The Darkening") erscheint am 28. Juli.

ORPHANED LAND - "Mabool - The story of the Three sons of
Seven"
Nach einer
langen, siebenjährigen Pause kehrt eine der innovativsten Metal Bands zurück
und wird die Szene zweifellos im Sturm erobern. Die israelischen ORPHANED LAND
waren eine der ersten Gruppen, die Folk und orientalische Instrumente für ihre
ureigene Vision benutzten. Ihre beiden letzten Alben "Sahara" und
"El Norra Alila" brachten frischen Wind in die Szene mit ihrem
neuartigen Sound und Konzept von orientalischem Folk Metal. Zur Zeit treffen ORPHANED
LAND die letzten Vorkehrungen für die Aufnahmen zu ihrem vierten Album
"Mabool", bei dem es sich um ein Konzeptalbum handelt, das sich der
Geschichte der großen Flut widmet und mit jedem Song ein anderes Kapitel
erzählt. Es soll mehr als 65 Minuten orientalisch beeinflussten Folk Metals
beinhalten und wird mit dem Einsatz orientalischer, altertümlicher Instrumente
wie Qannun, Oud, Saz, Buzuki und Percussions Seite an Seite mit verzerrten
Gitarren sowie einem Mix aus melodischen und extremen Vocals überraschen.
Ferner wird ein 25köpfiger, weiblicher Chor zum Einsatz kommen.
ORPHANED LAND werden Ende Juli ins Studio gehen, weitere Details zur
Veröffentlichung von "Mabool" und Updates aus dem Studio folgen.

Clip zu "In Reverse" für ihre Rockshows ins Voting genommen.
Regie für den Clip führte der bekannte schwedische Videoclip-Regisseur Patric
Ullaeus, der bereits Clips für Bands und Künstler wie Within Temptation, Kane,
Lutricia McNeal, The Underdog Project, Nana, Emilia, sowie Scooter, Rednex,

PENTAGRAM (heute Mezarkabul) - nicht ganz unschuldig am
Siegertitel des Grand Prix 2003?
Kann sich noch jemand an das großartige, vollkommen unterbewertete und von
türkischer Folklore geprägte Meisterwerk von PENTAGRAM (heute Mezarkabul)
"Anatolia" erinnern, das Century Media Records 1998 veröffentlichte?
Auf eben jenem Album ist eine gewisse Sertab Erener als Mitglied des
Backing-Chors erwähnt - und eben jene Sertab Erener landete offensichtlich mit
"Every Way That I Can" den Siegertitel des diesjährigen Grand Prix.
Aber es kommt noch viel besser, denn eben jenen Titel schrieb Sertab Erener
offenbar in Zusammenarbeit mit dem türkischen Gitarristen/Produzenten Demir
Demirkan, der wiederum Mitglied der türkischen Powermetal Band Pentagram war,
die sich aus namensrechtlichen Gründen in Mezarkabul umbenennen mussten.

RYKER'S - Kid D Bänderriss auf dem With Full Force Festival
Unter dem bis zum Bersten gefüllten Zeltdach haben
RYKER's am Freitag-Abend des With Full Force Festivals einen umjubelten
Auftritt abgefeiert. Fazit: Fans und Band waren allesamt erschöpft, aber
überglücklich - allein für Sänger und Frontmann Kid D gab es einen fetten
Wermutstropfen, als er sich einen dreifachen Bänderriss zuzog!
Bassist Chris erinnert sich:
"WAS GEHT?! Ich hoffe Ihr habt das Full Force gut überstanden... Habe mir
gerade einige Videoszenen vom Freitag angesehen und bin noch immer
überwältigt!! Mir fehlen auch immer noch die richtigen Worte, was sonst
eigentlich NIE vorkommt... Das With Full Force war DER HAMMER... IHR WART DER HAMMER!!!! Besten Dank für EURE
UNTERSTÜTZUNG - TRUE LOVE!!! Kid wird die Show wohl auch in bester Erinnerung
behalten, es war eine recht schmerzhafte (Diagnose: dreifacher!!! Bänderriss).
Auf jeden Fall noch mal ein fettes DANKE an EUCH ALLE - für 10 verdammt geile Jahre!!!

update from Anton Reisenegger of CRIMINAL:
"It’s
been a while since I last posted here, I know, but it’s been a pretty busy and
weird time for the band lately. I’m living in Germany now, Zac is in England
and Rodrigo in Chile. But fear not! The new CRIMINAL album is on it’s
way! The working title is ‘Supersonic Death’, and we are working on a very cool
cover idea with Claudio Bergamin, who did the cover for the European version of
‘Cancer’. We have written over 50% of the material for the album, and I can
tell you it’s gonna be the most commercial, soft, melodic, slow, and
lightweight CRIMINAL album ever!!! Yeah right!!! Anyway, we should be
recording around August or September for the album to be released a few months
later. We still have to work on the schedules, but it’s gonna be out through
Metal Blade in Europe and some major label in Chile. It’s not very clear yet if
Mark (Royce – keyboards) is going to play on the album, or what his involvement
is going to be in the future of the band, but we’re just taking it easy,
focusing on writing and getting the production process underway."
THE
CROWN prepare to mix 'Possessed 13':
Swedish
thrashers THE CROWN, recently rejoined by original vocalist Johan
Lindstrand, have completed the recordings for their new album, "Possessed
13", and are taking a three-week break before returning to Gothenburg's
Studio Fredman in mid-June to mix the effort for a tentative September/October
release. "It sounds very fuckin' great and we can't wait to release this
fury upon your souls," Lindstrand wrote in a recent online posting.
"It has gone very smooth in the studio, no problems at all and everybody
is working their asses off. When we're not beating our instruments we are
kickin' each other's asses in Tekken 4 and the undisputed champion is for the
moment Janne. We have now tuned down the guitars even more to get a more deadly
sound to the songs and it is fuckin' working, and the fast songs have become
even more faster than the pre-production we did. As I'm writing this [on
Thursday, May 22] I have only one more song to do vocals on and that's 'Dawn Of
Emptiness', a mid tempo song that`s gonna end the album along with the
instrumental piece 'The Endless Gate'. Marcus has also some solos left to do
and the shit he's done so far has fuckin' blown me away.
"Yeah, I got to tell you, it's great to be back in hell again, where I
belong hehehe."

From Heaven² at Underground Studios (Sweden).
The band will play at Sweden Rock Festival on 8th June.
DARK MOOR Jose Garrido is the new guitarrist of Dark Moor, he also plays
in Arwen.The band is just working in the last details before the recording of
their new album in August.
VHÄLDEMAR will enter into Rock Studios for the recording of their second
album in the next days.
CELESTY will play at the Finish Provinssirock (15th June) and Nummirock
(20th June) festivals.The band will also support Stratovarius at Kauhajoki,
Kasino (19th July).
ARWEN has a new keyboard player,his name is Javier Díez.
RED WINE will play at the Spanish Festival Derrame Rock on 27th
June.Their last album is getting an important response in all metal media.
FRETERNIA is just working in the songwriting of their third album,
first with the new guitarrist Niclas Karlsson (ex-Zonata).

New on the label is SHINING FURY out of Lucca, Italy!
The band was formed in 2000 as a vision of drummer Ross Lukather who wanted to
form a new band with young and talented musicians from his area – soon he had
the right people by his side: Tommaso Pellegrini (guitar) and Alessandro Cola
(bass), topped by singer Francesco Neretti who proved his skills already in
ATHENA.
The vision of the band was (and still is) to create fast and melodic songs (the
kind of music that makes you bang your head!). In the beginning of 2003 SHINING
FURY welcomed Francesco Chelini – to be responsible for the second guitar
and to make the sound heavier.
In the studio SHINING FURY will be joined by a good friend and skilled
player: Oleg Smirnoff (ex-ELDRITCH) who will add his psychotic keyboards to the
songs to reach a higher form of depth.
Metal Blade is very confident about the future of SHINING FURY. "We
know the market is flooded with Italian Power Metal bands, but the demo the
band sent was better than 99 % of all that stuff. It really blew us away – we
had no other choice but signing them straight away! Their debut album will be
like a fresh breath of air", says a spokesperson of the label.
The band comments the future collaboration as well: "SHINING FURY
is very proud and very happy to have the attention from Metal Blade. We will
start the recordings for our debut album these days and should be finished by
the end of June. Be prepared for a fast and heavy album! Thanks to all the

No release date has been set yet, but we look forward to a fall 2003
release.

HAUGEN (Hagalaz' Runedance) will release her next album under her old artist
name NEBELHEXE. She feels the need to explore new musical sounds, kind
new inspiration in her music and she seeks more artistic freedom in her musical
expressions. She will focus more on her personal feelings, dreams, obscure
experiences and her magical world. So look out for NEBELHEXE.
Besides her music, Andrea Haugen, or again 'NEBELHEXE', is also
exploring other interesting artistic areas, she is working on visual art and
film concepts and is currently working with like-minded individuals from the alternative
scene on various projects. Rumours has it she is currently also working on a
musical project and a theatre play with Martin Walkyier (ex-Skyclad and
Sabbath).

Zum Bedauern aller wird Jens Busch Thanateros verlassen!
Wer uns auf der Tour gesehen hat, hatte schon die Möglichkeit seinen
wahrscheinlichen Nachfolger zu bewundern. Sein Name ist Pascal und mit ihm
werden wir auch die nächsten Konzerte spielen.
Zum Abschied wird Jens bei einem der kommenden Gigs aber nochmals in die Seiten
greifen. Wann das Abschiedskonzert sein wird, teilen wir Euch rechtzeitig mit.
Darüber hinaus werden wir aber auf jeden Fall mit Jens in Kontakt bleiben und
möglicherweise wird er uns auch als Produzent erhalten bleiben.

Veröffentlichungsdatum von "Anthems
Of Rebellion" ist der 25. August 2003. Das neue Album wurde in den
Backstage Studios in Derbyshire / UK aufgenommen, produziert, gemischt und

The European release date of "Anthems Of Rebellion" will be the 25th
of August 2003. The album was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered at
Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, UK by Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Testament,
Kreator, Nevermore etc.) who already worked on mixing the band's previous album
"Wages Of Sin".
We had a listening session at the 9th of May in the Century Media Germany
hometown Dortmund with Angela Gossow, Michael Amott and media people. Everybody
was blown away by the intense power of the music and the even more extreme

Nach dem melodischenBlack/Death Folk
Metal Feger "Emprise To Avalon" aus dem Jahr 2002, diversen
Festival Auftritten (Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze...) machten
sich die 4 Jungs aus Monheim sofort daran am neuen Album zu
arbeiten. Dieses wird die Band auf der Steil nach oben
zeigenden Karriereleiter, einige Sprossen weiterbringen. Das mit
"Signs For The Fallen" betitelte zweite Werk für
Century Media Records (das sechste der
Bandhistorie), dokumentiert eindrucksvoll den Fortschritt der
Band. Deutlich kühler klingende Riffattacken treffen auf gewohnt
begnadete Melodien, ohne dabei das alte Erfolgsrezept zu
vernachlässigen. Aufgenommen, gemixt und gemastered wurde der Rundling
erneut im Stage One Studio / Bühne von Stammproduzent Andy
Classen (Krisiun, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Holy Moses
etc.). "Signs Of The Fallen" erscheint am 28. Juli 2003.

Während es zur Zeit etwas still um Angel Dust ist wandelt Sänger Dirk Thurisch
mit MERCURY TIDE auf anderen, sehr persönlichen musikalischen Pfaden. Während
Dirk nicht nur den Gesang, sondern auch die Gitarren übernommen hat,
rekrutierte er ein exzellentes Line-Up für Why?, das am 25. August 2003
europaweit in den Läden stehen wird: Neben dem Keyboarder Dennis Riehle
finden sich Anders Iwers von Tiamat am Bass und Stefan Gemballa von Flowing
Tears und Red Aim an den Drums.
"Die Musiker passen musikalisch und menschlich genau zu mir", lobt
Dirk seine Mitstreiter. "Die Zusammenarbeit mit so guten Musikern hat mir
sehr viel Spaß gemacht." Aufgenommen und produziert wurde Why? in
den Woodhouse Studios in Hagen von Siggi Bemm und unter tatkräftiger
Mithilfe von Dennis Koehne.
Zu den musikalischen Einflüssen befragt erklärt Dirk: "Sie kommen aus
verschiedenen Richtungen: Rock, Metal, Grunge, Gothic, aber auch Pop."
Insofern kommt die Coverversion von Stings "Russians" nicht mehr so
überraschend. Textlich stand Dirks Leben Pate: "Die Songs wurden meistens
nachts geschrieben. Viele entstanden aus den alltäglichen Dingen im Leben und
wurden aus dem Bauch heraus geschrieben. Deshalb hänge ich sehr an diesem Album
und stehe voll dahinter."

Mit ihren Alben Speak & Destroy, A Prayer Under Pressure Of Violent Anguish
und dem limitierten To Britain With Love And Bruises (Live) erarbeiteten sich
eine weltweite Fanbasis. Ihr Century Media Debütalbum The Horror Of Beauty
(co-produziert von Mick Murphy, Todd Osenbaugh und Nick Raskulinecz, die
bereits Foo Fighters, Marilyn Manson und Danzig zum richtigen Sound
verholfen haben) steht für eine Veröffentlichung im späten Herbst bzw. frühen
Winter auf unserem Plan.
Nach dem Split von Tura Satana (ehemals Manhole) Ende 1998 konzentrierte sich
Frontfrau und Spoken Words Künstlerin Tairrie B. ursprünglich auf eine
Solokarriere als MY RUIN. Die Idee, Nägel mit Köpfen zu machen und eine echte
Band zu formen entstand nach einer Europatournee mit der zukünftigen MY RUIN
Bassistin Meghan Mattox. Das Power-Doppel traf bald Songschreiber und
Gitarristen Mick Murphy, und es dauerte nicht lange, bis Drummer Yeal gefunden
